This week: 4 major hotels added and the site retargeted around real search demand
This update is different from our usual weekly additions: instead of picking topics ourselves, we reviewed real keyword search-volume data for Hong Kong travel queries and used it to guide what to add and how to phrase it.
What the data actually showed
The clearest, most actionable signal was hotels — specific hotel brand names are searched at high volume, far more than any other single content category in the data. Generic phrases like "things to do in Hong Kong," "best time to visit Hong Kong" and "Hong Kong accommodation" also showed strong volume, and we've tightened page titles and opening lines to speak to those phrases naturally rather than stuffing keywords in.
What's new
- Stay — four major hotels join the directory: Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, The Langham, Island Shangri-La, and the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel — taking the directory to 15 profiled properties.
- Existing pages in Do, Stay and Places had titles and opening paragraphs adjusted to match real search phrasing, without changing what they actually say.
What we didn't chase, and why
A large share of the data was flight, airline and weather searches ("hk weather today," specific flight routes) — real-time, transactional queries a static guide page can't usefully serve, so we left those alone rather than building pages that couldn't deliver what the search actually wants.
