Island Shangri-La Hong Kong

Island Shangri-La opened in March 1991 as part of the Pacific Place development in Admiralty, and is the sister hotel to the Kowloon Shangri-La across the harbour — a five-star property built around an unusually large art collection rather than just its rooms.

Pacific Place, Supreme Court Road, Admiralty — directly connected to Admiralty MTR station and the Pacific Place shopping mall, a short walk from Hong Kong Park and the Peak Tram terminus.

What it's known for

More than 900 works of art displayed throughout the hotel, including "The Great Motherland of China," a silk mural spanning 16 storeys of the atrium and reportedly the largest of its kind in the world. 557 rooms and suites, a roof garden on the 56th floor, and Restaurant Petrus, one of the city's more romantic fine-dining rooms.
