For stays beyond about a week, a serviced apartment often works out both cheaper and considerably more comfortable than stacking hotel nights — a genuine kitchen and separate living space matter more the longer a trip runs.

What you get over a hotel room

• A proper kitchen or kitchenette, useful given how small a typical Hong Kong hotel room is — being able to cook even occasionally changes the calculus on a longer stay.
• Weekly or monthly rates that often undercut the equivalent number of nightly hotel bookings.
• More storage and living space, which matters more the longer clothes and belongings need to live out of a suitcase.

Where they cluster

Serviced apartments are available across most districts, with a particular concentration in Central, Mid-Levels, and parts of Kowloon popular with longer-staying business travellers and relocating families.

What to check before booking

Minimum stay requirements (some operators won't take bookings under a week), whether housekeeping and linen changes are included or charged separately, and cancellation terms — these vary far more between serviced-apartment operators than they do between mainstream hotel chains.
