A former police married quarters building in Sheung Wan converted into a design and retail space, PMQ houses a rotating mix of independent local designers, studios and pop-up shops — one of the most direct ways to see what Hong Kong's design scene is actually making right now.

Local streetwear and independent labels

Hong Kong has a genuine, internationally recognised streetwear culture, with a cluster of independent boutiques and local labels concentrated in Mong Kok's Fa Yuen Street area and Causeway Bay, sitting alongside the bigger international sportswear retail already covered in our shopping guide.

Fashion week and industry events

As a longstanding regional garment trading hub, Hong Kong hosts several trade-focused fashion and textile events through the year, drawing an industry audience more than a consumer one, alongside smaller, more public-facing local designer showcases.

Where design meets the everyday

Beyond dedicated fashion spaces, Hong Kong's graphic design and typography — particularly its neon signage tradition, now increasingly rare as older signs are removed — has become its own recognised visual design legacy, documented and preserved by several independent local projects.
