Ma Wan (Park Island), up close
Ma Wan sits between Tsing Yi and Lantau, connected to both by the Tsing Ma Bridge, and has been substantially redeveloped into a planned residential community (Park Island) since the late 1990s — while still preserving a pocket of its older fishing-village character.
Park Island
A car-free, ferry-and-monorail residential development occupies most of the island, giving it an unusually quiet, self-contained suburban feel for somewhere this close to the airport and city.
Ma Wan Old Village
A small preserved section of the island's original fishing village survives at its northern edge, offering a direct contrast to the surrounding modern development — a compact, easy way to see the "before" alongside the "after" of Hong Kong new-town planning.
Noah's Ark
A theme-park-style replica of Noah's Ark, built as a resort and education centre, sits on the island — a curiosity more than a major attraction, but a distinctive landmark visible from the bridge.
Getting there
Reachable by ferry from Central or Tsuen Wan, or via bus across the Tsing Ma Bridge — not on the MTR network directly.
