A working temple dedicated to the sea goddess Tin Hau, sitting at the heart of the district and giving its name to the surrounding streets and square, which fills with hawkers and fortune tellers in the evening.

Old shophouses and the fruit market

Yau Ma Tei retains a number of pre-war tong lau shophouse buildings, alongside the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market, a working wholesale market that's operated since the early 20th century.
